What to Race?

Any road car is suitable for racing in a Motorkhana or Khanacross. Usually smaller cars are better, but we also have members who race Falcons and Commodores. Some examples of cars that our members use:
Mitsubishi Sigma, Toyota Celica, Ford Laser, Datsun Stanza, Datsun Bluebird, Subaru Liberty, Daihatsu Handivan, Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Ford Escort, Mazda Capella, Datsun 280Z, Datsun 120Y, Toyota Corolla, Daihatsu Charade, Mitsubishi Colt, Mitsubishi Magna, Mitsubishi Lancer.

As you can see, there are a large variety of vehicles. All vehicles are checked for safety prior to racing, with attention paid to: Suspension, Steering, Seat Mounting, Seat Belts, Brakes. There should be NO Oil Leaks. The items you may need to check before you race are: Positive Battery terminal must be covered (To prevent a short in the event of a rollover). There must be a minimum of a 900g Fire extinguisher mounted in the Car (These are available from most auto shops).

All items in the vehicle must be securely fastened (I.e.: spare Tire, Battery, Extinguisher). If you are unsure and would like you vehicle checked before an event, contact the club and we will arrange for an inspection prior to the event.

You will need to wear Neck to Ankle to wrist clothing that is NOT flammable material, as well as shoes and a Helmet – Cotton or leather are Ideal for clothing, for example, Jeans, and a LONG sleeve cotton Shirt. Footwear should be completely covering the feet, and once again of a non-flammable material.
Your helmet needs to comply with AS1968 (There should be a sticker on the helmet with this standard on it)
